In an interview with FRANCE 24, Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe said his country is "disappointed by the increasingly biased US mediation" in the conflict with DR Congo. He also accused the US of sanctioning Kigali alone while Kinshasa fails to honour the 2025 Washington Accords between the two countries.

In an interview with FRANCE 24, Dr Jean Kaseya, head of the Africa CDC, said the Ebola outbreak in the DR Congo is "serious" but not "out of control". He warned that "no one is safe" if it is not stopped at the source and argued that the West would already have a vaccine if the disease had struck there.

In an interview with FRANCE 24 on the sidelines of the Africa-France summit in Nairobi, Tony Elumelu, chairman of Heirs Holdings and United Bank for Africa, said "we [in Africa] need to fix our problems ourselves" as Western aid cuts bite, calling on the continent's private sector to step up and invest in electricity and infrastructure.

A month after Guinea deployed troops to its border with Liberia, President Joseph Boakai claimed to be in touch with his Guinean counterpart Mamady Doumbouya, in an interview with FRANCE 24. "We've been speaking very well," Boakai said, adding that he told Doumbouya the border situation is "getting under control". Asked about the state of democracy in West Africa, Boakai stated that Liberia has "learned that war is not the way to go". "We have learned to live with our neighbours. And we are doing everything possible to show them that we are avoiding conflict."

In an interview with FRANCE 24, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) discussed the upcoming World Cup and AFCON competitions. "I'm confident that an African country will win the World Cup," Patrice Motsepe said. "We have to aspire high and high". He also addressed the unprecedented decision by the CAF to strip Senegal of the most recent AFCON title and hand it to Morocco. "Things are back to normal," Motsepe insisted. "Based on what has happened since the AFCON in Morocco, we are now stronger, more united than ever."

As the Africa Forward summit concluded in Nairobi, FRANCE 24 sat down with Kenya's President William Ruto. For him, the summit was "significant" after French President Emmanuel Macron announced investments in Africa in areas such as the energy transition, digital and AI. Ruto also discussed the war in Sudan, refuting claims that he is siding with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). "Both SAF (the Sudanese Armed Forces) and RSF are cut from the same cloth," he said. "And they have taken the country to the dogs, so to speak".

FRANCE 24 spoke to Botswana's President Duma Gideon Boko, on the sidelines of the Africa Forward summit in Nairobi, Kenya. Boko, a Harvard-educated human rights lawyer, was elected in October 2024, ending the former governing party's six-decade rule. "Over the years, the opposition gained a lot of momentum," Boko recalled. "In 2024, it was clear that the message we were taking to the people was finding fertile ground". According to him, Botswana's democracy "has passed all the tests now".
