South Africa: Thousands of foreigners flee ahead of anti-immigration 'deadline'

Anti-#immigration groups in #SouthAfrica have set a 'deadline': by June 30 all undocumented immigrants must have left the country, or groups will 'shut the country down'. The weeks up to the 'deadline' have been marred by xenophobic violence, from attacks on foreign-owned businesses to #immigrants killed during #protests. Demonstrators accuse them, without evidence, of stealing jobs - despite them representing about 4% of the population -, collapsing public services and #crime.
