The recent shift from prolonged drought to unusually heavy and unpredictable rainfall across East Africa is no longer just a seasonal anomaly, it is a signal of a changing climate. While the region has always relied on three key rainfall seasons; the long rains (March–May), the short rains (October–December), and the cooler, drier June–September period, these patterns are becoming increasingly erratic. What was once predictable enough to guide planting and harvesting is now marked by uncertainty.
